Have you heard of date syrup before?
It is fantastic in sweeten and flavouring your food too. Date syrup can be a fantastic alternative to honey, agave syrup, sugar and marble syrup.
Organic date syrup contains a high amount of healthy minerals including zinc, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium and of course natural sugar.
If you are a parent of an under one-year-old and are looking to sweeten up his or her food then date syrup is great as it is considered safe for babies. We have been using dates and date syrup with both of our kids and they love it.
Also, dates are rich in fibre which is an additional benefit. Due to dates rich potassium levels, dates are perfect if you are trying to build muscle - just include dates in your meals.
If you are planning to lose weight you should minimise the use of dates as they are high in calories (energy). In the case you trying to lose weight we can help you in finding the right foods to eat, just contact us here.
Date syrup is actually quite easy to make, so let me share the recipe with you!
You need:
250g dates
Hot water
a bowl
Nut net or a thin cloth for straining
a blender
a pot
an airtight jar
Steps:
1: Soak your dates in hot water for 2 hours.
2: Remove the water and blend the dates unit smooth.
3: Strain the date purée through the nut net and collect the liquid in your pot. (The pulp can be used in baking, replacing butter, eggs and any other wet ingredients.)
4: Cook the liquid until it forms a syrup on low to medium heat. Make sure to stir it from time to time to ensure it is not burning in.
5: Transfer the still runny syrup into an airtight jar and keep it cool.
Enjoy!
